AM-Team starts landmark R&D Project with PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency, pushing the boundaries of used water treatment and carbon footprint minimisation.

Introduction

AM-Team has commenced our R&D Collaboration with PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency. AM-Team's cutting-edge digital twin models will be applied to and tested at PUB's water reclamation plants, aiming to effectively reduce carbon footprint and maximise treatment process performance.

Specifically, the emission of nitrous oxide (N₂O) is being targeted. AM-Team's models will be combined with onsite plant and monitoring data to quantify emissions, understand emission root causes thereby enabling emissions mitigation.

The hybrid combination of modelling and monitoring unites accuracy and trust in emission quantification, facilitating fast and effective mitigation.

Project approach

Advanced dashboards will be visualising emission dynamics with 3D insights, significantly advancing process understanding. A combination of 3D and dynamic models will be applied and the models will also be used to virtually test mitigation measures that cannot be tested onsite.

The project is well aligned to PUB's ambitions to leverage on advanced digital technologies to achieve net zero emissions in PUB's operations around 2045.

Project kick-off

AM-Team colleagues Giacomo Bellandi and Pieter Vlasschaert have succesfully kicked off the project in Singapore with PUB staff. Data processing and modelling efforts are ongoing and first results are coming in.

Major milestones are expected to be achieved in the coming months.
